Apple announced iOS 27 at WWDC26 on June 8, 2026, and the big story is the next generation of Apple Intelligence plus a reworked assistant called Siri AI. The developer beta is out now, while Apple says iOS 27 is coming this fall and Siri AI will arrive in beta later this year, English first.
Biggest New AI Features in iOS 27
1. Siri AI is the headline feature.
Siri is being rebuilt as a more conversational assistant that can answer broader questions, use web information for up-to-date responses, understand what is on your screen, and use personal context from apps like Messages, Mail, Photos, and Notes. Apple gives examples like finding a restaurant recommendation someone texted you, locating a hotel confirmation in email, or pulling up specific trip photos.
2. Siri can take more actions inside apps.
Apple says Siri AI can perform actions in apps like Messages, Music, Reminders, Calendar, and more. Examples include editing a message you just sent, creating reminders, adding songs to playlists, adding or changing calendar events, sending emails, taking selfies, and adding photos to albums.
3. There is now a dedicated Siri app.
iOS 27 adds a separate Siri app where conversations are kept in one place. Apple says you can start on iPhone and continue on iPad, pin conversations, and revisit past Siri chats.
4. Visual Intelligence gets stronger.
Siri AI can answer questions about what is in front of you or what is on your screen. On iPhone, this includes Siri mode in Camera, where you can point the camera at something and ask questions about it. Apple’s examples include identifying objects or food and giving nutrition-style information.

Siri AI can draft text from scratch, give feedback on what you wrote, and match your tone in Messages and Mail. Apple is also adding Call Context, which can surface relevant information during a business call, like pulling an airline confirmation code from Mail while you are calling an airline.
7. Safari gets AI-powered organization and monitoring.
Safari can automatically group tabs by topic, and a new Safari Notify Me feature can monitor pages for changes, such as a price drop or restock alert.
8. Home cameras get Apple Intelligence.
In the Home app, Apple Intelligence can combine related activity notifications, summarize what happened in HomeKit Secure Video clips before you watch them, and let you search camera footage using natural language. Some of these Home features require an Apple Intelligence-enabled device, a home hub, and in some cases an eligible iCloud+ plan.
Compatibility and Availability
Apple Intelligence on iOS 27 is limited to iPhone 16 models and later, plus iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. So even if an older iPhone can install iOS 27, it may not get the new AI features.
Siri AI will be English-only at first, will launch as a beta later this year, and will not initially be available in the EU on iOS and iPadOS. Apple also says the new Apple Intelligence features will not be available in China while it works through regulatory requirements.
